PRODUCT DESCRIPTION:
STUCCO is a Portland Cement based, water resistant coating that is not only easy to apply, but has the ability to withstand severe climatic conditions. It produces an attractive, durable, water resistant coating on exterior or interior concrete, masonry and plaster based surfaces. Stucco meets the requirements of ASTM C-926 and ANSI A 42.2.

USES:
▸ Decorative finish over scratch and brown coat applications
▸ Decorative finish directly over concrete, masonry and plaster based surfaces
ADVANTAGES:
▸ Provides durable, water resistant finish
▸ Highly freeze-thaw resistant
▸ Reduces air infiltration
▸ High flexural strength
▸ Crack and impact resistant
▸ Requires the addition of only water
▸ Non-toxic, non-combustible and zero flame spread
INSTALLATION:
Surface Preparation:
Surfaces to be coated must be structurally sound, clean and free of dust, dirt, oils, paints and all other contaminants that will prevent proper bond. Acid based cleaning solutions must be neutralized. Spalled areas, broken mortar joints, or cracks larger than 1/16" should be repaired with EMPIRE BLENDED PATCH IT or EMPIRE BLENDED PATCH ALL. If applied over a scratch and brown coat, allow these to fully cure before applying STUCCO. On solid, non-absorptive substrates or where bond to the substrate cannot be obtained over the entire surface, galvanized metal lath must be attached. Dampen surfaces evenly before application and maintain dampness ahead of application.
Mixing:
Each 80 pound bag of STUCCO requires approximately 2½ gallons of clean water. For applications over dense, smooth surfaces such as brick or precast concrete, use ½ gallon of EMPIRE BLENDED EM-CRYL 600 and 2 gallons of water per bag. This will improve the bond, strength and freeze-thaw stability, as well as reduce shrinkage cracks and efflorescence. Place the mixing water in a suitable mixer and gradually add the STUCCO. Mix to a smooth, lump-free and trowelable consistency. Turn the mixer off and allow the material to sit for 15 minutes, then remix for 5 more minutes. Do not mix more material than can be placed in 30 minutes. Wash out mixer periodically to keep the material from caking.
Placement:
Trowel on a thin coat of material over the entire surface area, using sufficient pressure to ensure tight contact with the substrate. Immediately apply a second layer to produce a final thickness between ⅛" and 3/16". Interruption in the application of the material should occur at corners, control joints, or wall and ceiling openings. If this is not possible, the joinings are to be cut square and straight and should be at least 6 inches away from a joining in a previous coat. Allow material to stiffen, then texture the surface with a sponge, float, brush or broom. For spray applications, first apply a thin trowel coat to the entire surface. Then, dilute the STUCCO to the requirements of the equipment being used and spray on for a final thickness of ⅛" to 3/16". Keep the nozzle perpendicular to the surface and make steady, even passes with the nozzle a constant distance from the surface.
Curing:
The entire surface should be evenly moistened for 2 days following application to permit the complete hydration of the cementitious material. If EM-CRYL 600 has been used as part of the mixing water, do not moist cure. Instead, cover surface with plastic to help maintain a moist atmosphere to permit hydration.
Coverage:
Each 80 pound bag will cover approximately 80 square feet at ⅛" thickness or 50 square feet at 3/16" thickness.
Packaging:
Available in 80 pound multiwall paper bags with moisture barrier.
