PRODUCT DESCRIPTION:
EM-BOND C is an architectural grade, modified polyvinyl acetate homopolymer emulsion specially formulated for bonding cement based mixes to interior or exterior concrete, and structurally sound masonry and concrete surfaces.
USES:
EM-BOND C is used for bonding:
- Cement products to old or new concrete, masonry, stucco, wood, brick, concrete block and more
- New concrete to old
- Cement products to walls, ceilings, beams, and columns and floors
ADVANTAGES:
- Eliminates need to mechanically roughen surfaces
- Is unaffected by alkalinity of Portland Cement
- Retains strength and flexibility indefinitely
- Heightens tensile and shear strengths
- Is unaffected by severe heat and cold (‑35EF to 300EF)
- May be applied over damp or dry substrate
- Is non-toxic, non-flammable and non‑staining
- Bonds to new or old concrete, masonry, wood, marble, gypsum board
- Is a thick, non-run formula
- Provides better adhesion to old or new concrete surfaces for patching, grouting, or coating
- Allows overlays to be applied as soon as dry to the touch (approximately 1 hour) or delayed for up to 7 days
- Is VOC compliant
INSTALLATION:
Surface Preparation:
Surfaces to receive EM-BOND C must be clean, structurally sound, and free of oil, grease, wax, dirt, mildew, soil, release agents, efflorescence and other foreign matter. All spalled and scaled material must be removed. Very dense or smooth areas may require etching with muriatic acid or RAINBOW DRY ACID CRYSTALS dissolved to appropriate concentration to achieve a surface having the appearance of fine sandpaper. If an acid wash is used, it must be neutralized with copious amounts of water before applying EM‑BOND C. Surfaces to receive bonding liquid may be damp but free of standing water. High gloss paint surfaces should be dulled by sanding.
Mixing:
Use EM-BOND C as packaged in original container. Do not dilute. Stir or shake to ensure there is no settling.
TECHNICAL DATA:
pH...........................................................4.5-6.0
Water Soluble………………………………100%
Placement:
Apply by brush, roller or spray, whatever method is most suitable to size of job and will ensure complete coverage of the substrate. If spray method is chosen, utilize equipment delivering 30-40 psi through nozzle that will displace 6-8 CFM. Regardless of which method is chosen, EM‑BOND C should be applied in a thin and continuous film but not left puddled on horizontal surfaces. For maximum bond, allow EM‑BOND C to thoroughly dry before application of topping material. After use, immediately wash equipment used in placement with clean water. Provided EM‑BOND C film is kept clean and intact, topping mix may be applied up to 7 days after initial application. A minimum of d"-2" of material must cover all applications. All joints must duplicate those in substrate and be sealed to avoid moisture penetration. Cut control joints with a dry saw not to exceed half the depth of the overlay.
Curing:
Cure all concrete and cement plaster work as recommended by the Portland Cement Association but do not allow standing water to remain on newly placed surfaces.
Coverage:
150 to 300 square feet per gallon, depending on porosity and texture of substrate.
Packaging:
Quarts (12 per case), Gallons (4 per case), 5 Gallon Pails and 55 Gallon Drums.
Color:
Milky White, clear when dry
Density……………………………8.7 lbs/gallons
LIMITATIONS:
Do not dilute. Do not use or apply when temperature is below 40EF or will fall below 40EF within 24 hours. Do not allow material to freeze. Do not apply over frozen concrete or any substrate where frost is present. Do not use in areas subject to immersion in water such as pools. Do not apply where constant moisture is present as in concrete ceiling areas subject to wetting from above.
CAUTION:
Do not take internally. Avoid contact with skin and eyes. In case of skin contact, wash affected area with soap and water. In case of eye contact, flush with water for 15 minutes and get prompt medical attention. Wash hands thoroughly after handling and before eating, drinking or smoking. Use with adequate ventilation and avoid breathing vapors or spray mist. The use of impervious rubber gloves is recommended. Keep Out Of Reach Of Children.
